Circular walk in the hinterland of the East Algarve
Route – East Algarve
altitude: 150m – length: 11km (3,5h) – TREK GRADE: moderately easy
Starting and finishing point of this walk is in the small village of Odeleite, once known for its copper, lead and zinc mines during the Roman occupation. It is located in an area of genuine beauty, where people still live according to old traditions and economies. We will cross the river of Odeleite and walk through an evergreen countryside full of gum cistus as far as the eye can see. Olive groves, fig and carob trees line our path. The beehives, which can be seen on the hillsides, produce some of the finest honey in the Algarve.
